Ben’s Graduation!
May 9-11
We made it! After five years of study at Rochester Institute of Technology, Ben has made it to the end of his degree program in Chemical Engineering and Material Science. This was a really great weekend to kick off a fantastic summer. The final weeks before the graduation included lots of goofing around, karaoke, some trips to Costco, golf (even getting new golf clubs), and deadlifting 600lbs as a final tribute to his time lifting in college. The graduation festivities started with his parents arrival 2 days prior where a nice dinner was had at the Genesee Brew house with four of Ben’s main friends from school. These were the friends that were made first year and continued making memories all the way through graduation. After that the next big event was academic convocation. We listened to some great speakers and reminisced on the time spent at RIT. The speeches were powerful and fun. Afterwords Ben, Brenna, and their friends got the opportunity to take some photos on campus. We spent the rest of the evening spending some nice time with family and friends.
The next day was the big day to walk the stage! Ben, Brenna, and Ben’s Parents went to the Chemical Engineering reception where we had the chance to say farewell to friends in the department, whether that be fellow graduates or professors in the department. Many professors were sad to see Ben go as he is always a pleasure to have in class. This was truly a great event and a fantastic way to start the day. Afterwards, we made a move to the graduation ceremony. BENJAMIN M RONDE, SUMMA CUM LAUDE was called and Ben crossed the stage giving a small wave the crowd. After the announcement of the rest of the college of engineering, pictures were taken. After that, we once again partied with friends and family to celebrate the achievement.
All and all, it was a great weekend. Big thank you to the family that came out to visit for the graduation. It was fantastic to have all of your support and you made it a great weekend! Thanks for all of the friends for being great and hosting me for the week after graduation in Buffalo. Wishing the best for everyone as we proceed in 2024.
